James Posey left Celtics and signs with Hornets

I really thought that James Posey will still remain with Boston Celtics but things change when Posey left Celtics and signs with New Orleans Hornets. James Posey, 31 years old, a 6 foot 8 forward who help Boston Celtics win their last NBA titles, has agreed to sign with New Orleans Hornets to a four year $25 million contract.

The nine year old veteran player has played for five NBA teams, wins two NBA Championship with Miami Heat in 2006 and Boston Celtics in 2008. James Posey plays an important role for Boston Celtics last season, he plays as a strong defender and who was assigned to guard Lebron James and Kobe Bryant. Posey who has a career averages of 9.2 points, 4.9 rebounds, 1.8 assist and 28.0 minutes in 663 career games. During the Boston Celtics playoff, James Posey averages 6.7 points, 3.6 rebounds and 22 minutes of playing time in 26 postseason.

James Posey made a really tough decision knowing that leaving Kevin Garnett, Ray Allen and Paul Pierce in Boston Celtics would mean joining Chris Paul, Tyson Chandler and David West in New Orleans Hornets. Head Coach Byron Scott could move Peja Stojakovic position from small forward to shooting guard while Posey could fit on Peja’s postition. But Scott prefer to keep Posey as a sixth man, Posey was a strong candidate for the Sixth Man of the last season scoring double figure in 26 games and led the Boston squad in steals 15 times.
