Before, people wore hats for functional reasons. During bad weather, people wear hats to protect them from such elements, it protects them from injury. On cold season hats helped to prevent the loss of body heat, according to some study that 85 percent of our body heat can be lost through our heads.

Later hats become a status symbol or a sign of authority worn with uniforms. Today hats no longer signify a particular status symbol, Although people worn them but for different reasons unlike before. Mostly on cold countries hats are more functionality in keeping them warm. Some people tends to wear hats for fashion reasons. During the last decades the popularity of baseball cap has grown rapidly, most of young men and women wear them. Older men choose to wear hats to cover their heads when they begin to loose hair.

Some companies use hats to advertise their logo. This is one of the cheapest way to advertise their company in the public. For whatever reasons, hats will always be worn by people and they will continue to use it in the future.
