Termites one of the nature’s most destructive pests. In United States alone, termites cause of billions of dollars in damage each year. Termites infest close to a millions of home annually . These pest has been in this planet for 250 million years and they are always present in the soil surrounding your home. A certain lot may have three to four active colonies of termites with each colony having 100 to a million termites on it.
Swarmers or winged termites are the new kings and queen that leave the colony and shed their wings to mate from other colonies. Subterranean termites are the smallest and most destructive of these pest. This type of mites live underground in huge colonies that may house over a million termites. Wingless termites do the most of the damage. These kind of mites feed 24 hours a day on wood, paper, books, cabinets and a lot more.
Handling a home damage from termites requires special skills. Those who have knowledge in construction is highly needed to identify those critical areas. A treatment may involved plenty of gallons of liquid pesticide, known as termiticide. In short termite treatment is a job for professionals or experts. Although there are some products available in the retail stores or internet that sometimes eradicate termite problem.
