Choosing the right domain name

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my Full RSS feed or sign up for email alerts for FREE!. Thanks for visiting Rhyan dot Net!

Before rushing out on buying your own domain. It would be nice to think first or analyze what would be the proper domain for you. Just like a person it requires a name to have its own identity in the world, the same as your website to have its own identity in the net. The website domain name should be easy to remembered by anyone. If web sites keep its domain name altering frequently, it becomes difficult for the visitors to remember a domain name that is not easily spoken in words and relocate it.

Choose a unique name for your domain.

If you plan to choose a unique domain name like “sop” or “kthxs” a great chances of getting a short domain. As a rule a good domain name has under 15 characters. Domain name can be length up to 67 characters. And to think you don’t need to use a 67 character domain for your site. Some says shorter domain are easier to remember, easier to type and far less susceptible to mistakes.

Ranking.

To improve the ranking in the indexes and other lists of sites, it would be a good idea to choose a domain name that starts with “a” or “b”, or even better, with a number example. “143dog.com”, “allaboutrhyan.com”, “autoindex.net”.

WWE Talk

Let’s just set aside the techies, tips and niche talk for now and talk things which I like. Probably not all of us likes or appreciates the world of wrestling WWE to be specific. Some says it’s a scripted thing which all players are just acting to entertain their avid audience/fans. But let’s face it wrestling is one of the greatest sports if your into contact sports. During our childhood days where Hulk Hogan, Ulitimate Warrior, Undertaker and many more conquer the ring of WWE. Lot’s of wrestlers entertain us and some of them get hurt or injured by accidents. Some maybe get bored of watching it, like most people says “you can’t please everybody”. Other WWE superstars conquer the big scene or Hollywood like Hulk Hogan, The Rock and my favorite John Cena.

There are only few whom I like most John Cena, Batista and The Undertaker. I really don’t mind if Batista and Undertaker will face in the Survivor Series or any other match events. Whether Batista will execute his “batista bomb” or Undertaker will use his “chokeslam, Tombstone and Last Ride” that would be a great match-up. John Cena is also considered to be great especially when he do an entrance. I like his match up against The Edge before. He seems to small compare to most of his opponents considering his a 6 foot 1. I’m a WWE fan and I’m not sure if you’re also. Contact sports like Wrestling, Boxing, UFC (Ultimate Fighting Championship) is more fun to watch, It’s full of thrill and excitement. Not only you will entertain, you will also learn some tricks or techniques to defend yourself.

Is your servers one of them?

When we talk about server, the first thing came into our mind would be a computer or a devices that manages the whole network resources. Server are most often dedicated or multi processing operating systems. Examples are: file server which is dedicated in storing files. A web server which serves static content to a web browser by loading a file from a disk and serving it across the network, and a database server that processes database queries. How safe is your server? Are your server free from unauthorized users? You may want to double-check. This kind of questions is very important when we’re talking about servers. To make it simple, we need a security to make this things up. A Firewall which is a system designed to prevent unauthorized access from a private network.

According to security researcher David Litchfield, there are nearly half a million database servers have no firewall protection. Litchfield took a look over 1 million randomly generated Internet Protocol (IP), checking them if he can access them on the IP ports reserved for Microsoft SQL Server or Oracle database. He found out 157 SQL servers and 53 Oracle servers. Litchfield estimates approximately 368,000 Microsoft SQL servers and 124,000 Oracle database servers directly accessible on the internet. Imagine how many data are at risks. Litchfield says on his interview. “I think it’s terrible, We all run around like headless chickens following these data breach headlines…organizations out there really don’t care. Why are all these sites hanging out there without the protection of a firewall?”. The security research wasn’t sure why Oracle’s numbers decreases while Microsoft’s had risen. Another disturbing finding of Litchfield 2007 survey is many of these unprotected database are also unpatched.

Seven Ways Writing Articles Can Explode Your Business

In today’s highly competitive internet universe, the importance of attracting highly targeted traffic to your website cannot be overemphasized. Routing web traffic to your site can be your only means of survival, especially in the cutthroat world of ecommerce. Getting a high search engine ranking can be very difficult. Fortunately, there is plethora of website promotion strategies you can use to drive traffic to your website.

There is a wide variety of strategies you can adapt, from paid advertising to affiliate marketing. However, most of these techniques require payment. Nevertheless, there are ways to promote your website and increase your web traffic without spending anything. Writing articles is one of the best web site promotion strategies you can use, and they can be very effective. How, you may ask, can writing articles help improve your web traffic? Here are the top seven ways in which it can help explode your business.

1.Reach more people

When you write good articles, it would be a shame not to share them with other people. You can post your articles in your website or you can submit them to other sites such as e-zines and online publishers. By submitting your articles to these sites, you give exposure not only to your ideas but also to your website. Simply include a link back to your site or include your information in the resource box. With this, you get exposure and free advertising as well. Submit your articles to popular e-zines and take advantage of their popularity. Other sites who find your article relevant may also link back to you. Thus, you increase your link popularity, which is one of the most important strategies in the internet world. Remember that most people are looking for information online and by filling this need with your quality article; you may reap the benefit of more exposure and higher web traffic.

2.Free Advertising

Submitting your articles to other websites presents an opportunity to advertise your website without paying exorbitant fees. Although you should avoid marketing language in your articles and make it informative and useful to your readers, you can always include your site’s link in the resource box. In addition, by making your article relevant and helpful to your readers, you are making a good impression for your website, which could ultimately lead to a visit and hopefully a purchase. Good quality content in an article is far better and more effective than a few lines of ad space. You have a very special opportunity to presell your product or service to your prospective customer.

A Month Blogging Experience

After Blogging for a month, their are many things I learn. Yeah! what you see is true, I’m just a new blogger some people describes my work as a babyblog. As a rookie in blogging, I must do some extra effort to make my craft more interesting and unique to others (which seems not at all LOL!!!). Reading some news and articles from the veterans or experts from this field. At first it was totally boring thing but as you get used to it, everything changes. Like what they say, if you’re lazy to read some articles then blogging is not for you. Techies, Affiliate programs, Niche, Rants and Ramblings you choose? That’s what Rhyan dot Net is all about.

Site Traffic is a big issue. Most of the articles I read and base on what I saw, web statistic is a big part to be improve. How to burst it is not an easy way. I believe on one pro-blogger/veteran says that posting a unique and well craft content is a key factor to acquire more visitors. Visitors will come often, if your craft is totally interesting. Leaving a comment on the blog I visit is one way to acquire visitors. Just to get their attention posting a meaningful comment will do a lot. Not just by saying “great post”, “two thumbs up” and some nonsense comment will not do good but sometimes it does :D (only for the few) that is why I’m trying to avoid this as much as possible. Getting involved into online community such as forums, chat, mailing list, social networking and many more. Try to spread the word “that my site is kicking and how about give it a try” any nice phrases that will describe your work. Submit your site to a blog community will also help in acquiring visitors but sometimes it doesn’t. Most of them requires you in exchange of their service to have a banner link in your site. Base on my observation some communities are not doing good on helping each member to have what he is needed. SEO (Search Engine Optimization) to be honest I’m just starting to learn how this things run, so can’t give you any feedback about it. I’m just sharing what I did and learn for a month blogging.

Some blogs has its own advertisement almost 80 to 90 percent of them (including me :D ). Earning extra money is not a bad idea, monetizing your blog is a nice thing also. Just place your ads in a proper way. As of the moment my main goal is to increase traffic let the ads sit aside. If enough traffic comes to your blog advertisement would not be a big problem. As a newbie I’m trying to learn, accepts advice, opinions and idea on how this things work out. Cheers!!! from a Babyblog….
