This might sound to be different way of spamming using MP3 audio files. Actually it has now raise to 10 percent amount of all spam traffic according to some security researchers. Scammers are now using mp3 audio files as part of an attachment that seems to be difficult to detect. Before it was image spam which uses picture files and then followed by using a PDF format to bypass filters or scanners.

How this thing works? The said file when being played will send a message that will tempt the listener to invest in a penny stock. If they have enough receiver decided to invest, the price will go strongly increase or double. The main use of the said spam is for a pump-and-dump scheme. Here are the names of the said files: elvis.MP3, weddingsong.MP3, coolringtone.MP3, oursong.MP3, listentothis.MP3 and many more. The file size of the said files is 88KB to 150KB. According to Joe Stewart a senior security researcher of SecureWorks this could be a simple test run for a better audio spam attackin the future. The said spam doesn’t have any malware package file from the audio that will be download into your computers, but the said feature can be added.
