In every bloggers life comes a special day - the day they first launch a new blog. Now unless you went out and purchased someone else’s blog chances are your blog launched with only one very loyal reader - you. Maybe a few days later you received a few hits when you told your sister, father, girlfriend and best friend about your new blog but that’s about as far you went when it comes to finding readers.

Here are the top 10 techniques new bloggers can use to find readers. These are tips specifically for new bloggers, those people who have next-to-no audience at the moment and want to get the ball rolling.

It helps if you work on this list from top to bottom as each technique builds on the previous step to help you create momentum. Eventually once you establish enough momentum you gain what is called “traction”, which is a large enough audience base (about 500 readers a day is good) that you no longer have to work too hard on finding new readers. Instead your current loyal readers do the work for you through word of mouth.

Yahoo Messenger 9.0 Beta Release

Yahoo has launch a new version of Yahoo Messenger. The Yahoo Messenger 9.0 Beta has lots of new and enhance features for you to enjoy. It has a large space of contacts for your friends and an option to list them with avatars or just a simple list.

The enhance feature for IM, call or text are more impressive. For example, if you want to do an IM, call or text simply hovering over the contact name and click it. Another feature is what they called inline media player, lots of users now wants to share their photos or videos from Youtube, Yahoo Video or other resources simply paste the link in your IM window and you can watch it in your IM window no need to open a new browser. It has also an update photo sharing feature with Flickr options, means you can save or view photos from your deskstop or flickr acount.

You can insert emoticons into your status messages like saying “I’m in a bad day” and have the “sad” emoticon on the side. It has also a skin options, you can change the skin of your yahoo messenger window by simply click the skin picker button on the top of your window and find a new one. Another one is the forward feature that lets you forward phone calls to a phone number or IM messages to a mobile phone in a form of text. It seems Yahoo did the right job on putting some new features in their messenger. I hope they will put back the Users Created Chat Rooms which they remove a long time ago, probably an enhancement feature for it will be fine.

Missed those Rooms!!!….bring it back…heh!

I just read a news from one respectful site that a company name EveryScape will launch a new and better online mapping. This new 3d local search site that lets people “drive” down the street and even “walk” into the buildings. It seems online mapping nowadays just keeps getting better.

This site will let you choose four destinations Boston, New York, Aspen Colorado and Miami. The visual looks cool as you can fly through the front doors of hotels, bars and other buildings and can turn around into 360 degree views. Just like some virtual games you played with virtual reality environment. The different is that, all the things you’ve seen here a real. Whale Tracking Online

Our big buddy in the sea can now be tracked online. Humpback whales travel thousands of kilometers from warm waters of South Pacific as their breeding area, to Southern Ocean Antarctica where they feed. It is quite a long journey from one place to another with lots of danger along the way. “Just imagine how lucky we are compare to them”. Why this species needs to travel from one place to another is still unknown.

Probably the big question will finally be answered this year. Scientist from Opération Cétacés and Center for Cetacean Research and Conservation (CCRC) has set up satellite tags on 20 humpback whales. The said project is not only for the scientist but also for public viewing through their interactive google map. You can also view each whales profile on it.

Water-Powered Cell Phones? Is it Possible?

By 2010 you might say, “I need to re-fill water for my cellphone instead of recharging it”. Samsung-Electronics-Mechanics announced the it has developed a micro-fuel cell and hydrogen generators that runs on H2O (water).

“When the handset is turned on, metal and water in the phone react to produce hydrogen gas,” explained Oh Yong-soo, vice president of Samsung Electro-Mechanics’ research center. “The gas is then supplied to the fuel cell where it reacts with oxygen in the air to generate power.” Other fuel cells need methanol to produce hydrogen, while Samsung’s needs only water.”

Another Extra Gig from Gmail

Google Inc. email services, Gmail has put up another extra 1 Gig space for their email. As we all know way back 2004 when Gmail was launched they put up a 1 Gigabyte storage then double it. Then right now, another extra 1 Gigabyte storage which makes a total of 3 Gigabyte storage for every single Gmail account. Googles reason for the additional Gigabyte storage is that many people had stored more photos and video in their gmail attachment. That is why Gmail had put up an extra storage capacity.

“A few of you are using Gmail so much that you’re running out of space, so to make good on our promise, today we’re announcing we are speeding up our counter and giving out more free storage,” blogged the Google engineer Rob Siemborski.

Competition brings greater selection. Microsoft is currently offering 5GB for their Hotmail services, while Yahoo is offering “unlimited” storage.

I only got an account for Yahoo and Google but I still prefer using Googles email services “Gmail”.
